SAPPHIC INTIMACY - RAUNCHY

Belonging to my project titled Sapphic Intimacy, this Raunchy themed book was inspired by the fictional novel Milk Fed by Melissa Broder. Representation in the media is a crucial step towards acceptance and I wanted to explore how women loving women relationships are represented through literature. The theme of raunchiness was displayed using black and white images from old porn magazines, all censored by gold star stickers. The black and white images make the spreads feel light and sensual. The gold stars add a comedic effect that starts on the cover and works its way through the entire book. The occasional hot pink page acts as a break for the reader while still playing into the raunchiness, and ties in the three smaller inserts of smut taken from passages of Milk Fed that can be found in between spreads. Overall my goal was to create a book that emulated the feeling of raunchiness without spelling it out for the reader. There is no title on the cover of any books in this series and this is because the contents and designs of the books should speak for themselves.
